Sōtarō Saegusa, Japanese Cast-Iron Figure with Fan

£125.00

A Japanese cast-iron sculpture by Sōtarō Saegusa, depicting a stylised robed figure with an open fan raised aloft. The tall headdress, richly patterned robe and ceremonial pose recall Sanbasō (Sanbaso), a traditional performer associated with Noh and Kyōgen theatre; the figure's precise subject has not been independently confirmed.

The mottled green and brown patinated finish highlights intricate scrolling decoration across the back of the robe. Its elongated form and expressive silhouette give this compact sculpture a distinctive presence.
